There’s a lot about *'Red, White & Royal Blue'* that suggests it’s not a good film, and still, I found myself engaged with it. I can’t quite explain how, because truthfully, nothing really stands out as being particularly well done. The movie feels longer than it needs to be, the performances are merely adequate, the plot is weak—or at least, it should be—and the writing is truly awful, cringe-inducing even. It has that manufactured quality common to Hallmark productions, except for the absence of their usual adherence to traditional relationships, naturally. But despite all this, they somehow manage to pull it off. I don't have much more to say; elaborating would just involve detailing additional reasons why it should be bad but, clearly, isn’t. Forgive the pun. 🤪
