It's unclear who these kids are, how they relate to each other, and what prompted their transformation from scared bystanders into skilled fighters—all seemingly compressed into a single sequence without any real character growth. Despite this, _Red Dawn (2012)_ turned out to be surprisingly good, and I actually found myself enjoying the portrayal of the adult American soldiers more than in the earlier film. It still feels somewhat pointless though. Perhaps a television show would be a better format for a future version. _Final rating:★★½ - There was quite a bit that I liked about it, but ultimately it didn’t fully come together._
