Among zombie horror movies utilizing the found-footage style, REC stands out as exceptional. The mounting fear, disorder, and dread experienced by people trapped within an apartment building during a sudden outbreak is intensely suspenseful and feels quite real. While it begins at a measured pace, REC quickly escalates into a terrifying sequence of events, portraying characters desperately trying to stay alive. Despite its limited resources, this horror film deserves recognition for its inventive approach and skill in the genre. I watched the American adaptation, Quarantine, some time ago; it shares many similarities with REC, but the original is superior due to its fresh ideas and the existence of three sequels that expand upon its story. Zombie or horror enthusiasts should definitely include this on their list of films to watch.
