Despite problems with the narrative's progression and rhythm, I don’t feel Real was the complete disaster some people made it out to be. The storyline certainly could have been improved, and Kim Soo-hyun gave a fantastic performance; however, even his acting was diminished by the film’s unnecessarily confusing nature. On the positive side, the cinematography was quite good, so the visuals are worthy of recognition. I understand what they were trying to do with a contemporary spin on traditional Korean revenge films, but it didn't quite work out. Nevertheless, as mentioned earlier, I’ve encountered far worse movies that received unwarranted praise for being mediocre, and the harsh criticism this film received from Korean viewers is somewhat intriguing. I would love to see Kim take on more challenging roles after witnessing his skill in this project, but because of the movie's shortcomings, I fear he might avoid similar opportunities going forward.
