This movie, *’Ready or Not’*, is a tricky one to evaluate. I find myself with mixed feelings – there's plenty here that works well, some aspects I wish had been handled differently, and one particular scene I really didn't care for. Let’s start with what stood out as positive: Samara Weaving, and especially the visual impact of Samara Weaving’s character by the film’s end. She looks fantastic! Weaving delivers a standout performance; she’s definitely the strongest element in the cast. If I were to make changes – though I haven't really considered how they would play out, so it might not even have made sense – it would be based on the initial interactions between the characters. It was clear from early on that there wasn't much support for what was happening. I think it would’ve been great if things had escalated into a kind of internal conflict, where Grace, Alex, Daniel and Becky were pitted against everyone else; that could have made everything even more exciting. There’s also one part that really bothered me: the role of Mark O'Brien's character, Alex, near the end. It felt like a pointless twist, just for the sake of having a twist. I lost interest in the movie pretty abruptly at that point; it’s rare for a film to lose me so quickly. The whole thing seemed silly and unnecessary. That being said, the film did manage to somewhat redeem itself with the ending. The ‘pops’ are genuinely funny, and Weaving's final line as Grace is quite good. I just regret that Alex storyline existing because it has affected my overall impression; however, even taking that into account, I still consider this 2019 movie to be very good.
