I had a great time watching READY OR NOT 2: HERE I COME. It steers clear of predictable sequel pitfalls, deepening the demonic mythology in a way that feels organic and clearly aims to amuse. The action sequences are wonderfully violent, the dark comedy lands perfectly — particularly during a very funny fight scene in a ballroom — and Samara Weaving demonstrates yet again that she’s ideally suited for this kind of role. While the sense of discovery isn't there anymore, Kathryn Newton’s somewhat uninspired acting feels out of sync with how captivating Weaving is. Nevertheless, it remains an extremely enjoyable film that lives up to the first one.
