It's a classic example of its kind, and it’s easy to see why. I recognize that it can feel cheesy, the performances are exaggerated, and the special effects aren't exactly polished; however, those flaws don’t diminish how impressive it really is. While hinting at elements from Lovecraft’s tales, this film establishes itself as something unique and distinct. The actors generally do a decent job, with one exception: Jeffrey is absolutely captivating and steals every scene he’s in—he's truly remarkable.
