Justine (played by Garance Marillier) is a strong-willed young vegetarian who's recently begun veterinary school when she's pressured into eating raw rabbit liver as part of a hazing ritual orchestrated by her well-liked older sister, Alex (Ella Rumpf), and subsequently feels ill. However, that’s only the beginning of her troubles; her new roommate, Adrien (Rabat Nait Oufella), who is openly gay, and their initial week together will involve numerous fraternity-like trials imposed upon them by the “elders.” She breaks out in a concerning rash, which she treats with ointment, but it seems to be a sign of something much more serious. She's beginning to desire meat—and cooking it appears unnecessary. It’s more than just a simple want; let's simply say she doesn’t require a grocery store to obtain what she needs. What is occurring to her, and is she the only student at this school who wants to eat the patients? Marillier delivers an excellent performance as this gory film becomes increasingly entertaining in its grimness. Her character grows more frantic in her desire to feed, then feels remorseful about what she's doing, and slowly descends into madness! The movie has a playful tone with some quite graphic scenes of gore but also incorporates plenty of sexually suggestive humor, particularly from the self-assured Oufella, who as “Adrien,” likely doesn’t realize how unstable life is about to become for his new roommate. It's not particularly frightening; it’s more humorous than scary and offers a pleasant twist on the college horror genre that avoids extensive special effects and profanity, making it simply enjoyable.
