The kidnapping of a Korean diplomat in Lebanon, a country experiencing conflict, creates a difficult situation for his government, which struggles with whether or not to meet the ransom request. "Min-joon" (played by Ha Jung-woo) is tasked with going to Lebanon and carrying out an intricate scheme to get their citizen back while evading various factions—warlords and authorities alike—who are all after him. He unexpectedly finds himself in a taxi driven by "Pan-soo" (Ju Ji-hoon) at the airport, and this Korean expatriate turns out to be resourceful, with a questionable past involving dealings with the government. What follows is an entertaining sequence of events as these two men confront increasingly dangerous situations while attempting to survive and rescue “Mr. Oh.” The film does feel extended at times, and it occasionally loses momentum—though director Seong Hun Kim delivers a convincingly realistic desert adventure complete with gunfire, wild dogs, a chase scene through narrow streets, and I personally found it more enjoyable than some recent action movies featuring well-known Hollywood actors. It’s an entertaining experience, benefiting from the strong rapport between the two characters; the script has moments of genuine humor, and there's a general sense of levity that I appreciated. The story is inspired by real events—it makes you wonder what it takes to be a diplomat.
