My biggest issues with what is otherwise a very smart movie involve John Hambone’s habit of guiding the pursuing enemy forces through areas where people live. This means that local Vietnamese civilians are being exposed to gunfire. It's unclear why he didn’t think about protecting those villagers. He also killed a chicken—and I really don't understand his justification for doing that. Aside from these small complaints, this sophisticated film should satisfy thoughtful audiences looking for something beyond a standard action movie.
