Max Eigenmann portrays "Joy," a woman facing difficulties securing employment while raising her young daughter, "Grace" (Jaeden Paige Boadilla), in the United Kingdom where she lacks legal residency. This leads her to cleaning jobs through an agency, and one placement takes her to the expansive home of "Katherine" (Leanne Best), who is caring for her ailing uncle, "Garrett" (David Hayman). Joy's employer remains unaware of Grace’s presence, despite this being a live-in position. The narrative gains momentum when Katherine departs for a weekend, leaving Garrett and his medication under Joy’s supervision; at that point, Grace feels more comfortable, and hints begin to suggest something isn't right. An accidental error with the medication seems to revitalize the previously unresponsive man, prompting questions about Katherine’s intentions. "Garrett" himself is far from innocent, and while he develops a connection with the inquisitive and amiable “Grace” over hot chocolate, his own hidden motives become increasingly apparent, particularly after Joy's mother is apprehended by immigration authorities. The majority of the film feels rather ordinary, though the final thirty minutes offer some improvement as the characters’ roles become clearer and the plot accelerates. David Hayman provides a solid performance, maintaining an air of mystery regarding his character's true nature; however, the rest of the acting and writing are unremarkable, with considerable unnecessary exposition. The ending bears a resemblance to something Edgar Wright might have produced, but ultimately it's just an acceptable viewing experience.
