The movie represents another collaboration for Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro, following their previous work together in “Mean Streets” and “Taxi Driver”. For this project, Scorsese brought in Paul Schrader (‘Taxi Driver’) and Mardik Martin (‘Mean Streets’) to write a screenplay adapted from La Motta’s book. Raging Bull recounts the actual experiences of Jack La Motta, a middleweight boxer whose outbursts, aggression, and volatile nature led him to championship status but also contributed to his personal downfall. Ultimately, the most significant battle is with the darkness that resides inside everyone.
