Here’s another revenge thriller, it seems. Nicolas Cage plays a former mobster who is pulled back into a life of violence when his daughter gets taken by criminals. Essentially, the movie delivers exactly what the plot description promises; it's a Nicolas Cage vehicle that doesn’t attempt to reinvent itself. It doesn’t offer any fresh perspectives on the revenge genre—though thinking about it, very few films have managed to surpass classics like Fritz Lang's *Fury* from 1936. There’s certainly more bloodshed and graphic deaths now, intended to draw audiences into theaters, but most of these movies feel empty, just existing for their own sake. There’s a demand for this kind of film—either from people who enjoy it or, like me, those looking for something mindless to watch, which requires leaving your brain behind. It's often ridiculous and even feels disrespectful at times, but honestly, this isn't any worse than some of the more celebrated revenge thrillers we’ve seen recently; that just highlights how low the standard has been for quite a while now. So filmmakers, please try to do better! Give us something original! 5/10
