_Puppet Master_ marks the beginning of the _Puppet Master_ film franchise. It isn’t particularly strong; if you're new to these films, I would suggest watching the later installments, because they are noticeably better than this initial entry. The movie serves as an introduction to Toulon, the titular Puppet Master. The details about his background are limited—we learn that he brought his puppets to life and took his own life to avoid being taken into custody. Most of the story unfolds years afterward, following a group of individuals with unconventional abilities – a psychic, a witch, a magician, among others – who travel to a hotel where one of their associates has died under mysterious circumstances. Apparently, he was investigating Toulon’s secrets, and _something_ transpired. This leads to scenes of violence involving the puppets. The quality of the _Puppet Master_ films improves considerably after this first one. As of now, "Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich" is the most recent film in the series; it was made by a different production company and features Thomas Lennon. All of the original _Puppet Master_ movies are available on a video-on-demand platform operated by Full Moon Features, which produced them.
