**Bloody Romeo and Juliet: if they won't let us marry, we’ll slaughter them all.** Not long after the 2006 film appeared, released straight to television, the people behind it decided to make a direct sequel on physical media as well. The story seems to be set roughly five years following what happened in _Pumpkinhead 3_, and shows how the creature is brought back into our world to destroy an entire family. What’s consistently marked the _Pumpkinhead_ sequels has been the writers' obvious lack of skill, unable to come up with stories that make sense or are interesting enough to support a horror film. If you examine this movie’s script closely, it seems like a strange and unusual version of Romeo and Juliet: two people love each other but their families have been fighting for years over something unimportant. But because the families won't allow them to be together, the guy decides that the most reasonable thing he can do is, out of all possible choices, go see a witch, summon a demonic creature risking his own soul, and kill off his beloved’s entire family! It makes perfect sense… who wouldn't do that? Besides this terrible script, there are characters who feel poorly developed and aren't very believable, and they've been given to an inexperienced cast, which isn't able to handle the situation and is destined to fail. And this time, there’s no real villain either... just a silly feud between rural families over pointless things, plus a somewhat frightening monster. The creature has long since lost any ability to frighten us, even though it does create plenty of gore with its victims' bodies, which will probably please fans of blood and violence. Lance Henrikssen is in the film again, and his character gets more attention this time around, but he doesn’t help the movie, nor could he stop it from failing. From a technical standpoint, it's an inexpensive and not particularly frightening movie, although there are some scenes that might make you feel sick to your stomach and a general improvement in the production quality compared to the third film in the series. The photography is better, and the shooting and editing are more consistent. Also, the special effects are much improved, more convincing, and the sets and costumes are pretty good.
