My expectations weren’t met by this unexciting, bleak film presented in a documentary fashion, concerning "Sarah" (played by Eva Green), who harbored a lifelong ambition of traveling into space. Upon receiving the chance, she encounters the demanding aspects of training, isolation, and confinement, experiences that affect her more profoundly than expected—leading to intense longing for her young daughter, Zélie Boulant ("Stella"). The central issue with this movie is that, beyond glimpses of the Kazakh spaceport and some weightlessness practice, it genuinely could be about any subject. Any parent required to commit completely to their work might understandably experience similar feelings of solitude and hopelessness, and while Eva Green (or more accurately, her eyes) does manage to communicate a degree of the profound weariness her character likely feels during this lengthy preparation period, it just as easily could be for an ultramarathon or swimming across the English Channel! It's been some time since I’ve seen Matt Dillon in a film, and his presence doesn't contribute anything meaningful to what seems like a project designed to showcase multilingual talent.
