The visuals are impressive, and the landscapes and cinematography are beautiful, but ultimately, the movie is quite disappointing. Given the substantial financial investment, it’s surprising they couldn't afford someone to simply review the script for basic coherence; apparently, that wasn't part of the production costs. I'm unsure whether Hollywood executives lack common sense or believe audiences do, or perhaps a combination of both, but how hard is it to devise a story that makes some kind of sense and feels at least somewhat plausible? A massive undertaking to find out about humanity’s origins results in assembling a crew of dysfunctional individuals where even the scientists appear to be strangers to one another when they're roused millions of miles from Earth. Nearly every character acts in an unrealistic manner. Sure, it looks nice—let’s take off our helmets, for example? Fine, aside from the immediate risk to your health, what about quarantine protocols…are you serious? The robot’s decision to put the mutagen into a drink is simply illogical and never properly justified. And speaking of robots, they require power sources that aren't haphazardly distributed throughout their bodies; detaching a robot's head shouldn't allow it to continue talking as if nothing happened. In *Alien*, at least they had to connect him to something. This continues throughout the film—it’s just a series of illogical actions strung together. Then there’s the ending. It’s laughable. Aside from Elizabeth’s absurd choices, how does she intend to survive on an alien spacecraft without food or any resources? The movie held real potential. The concept of learning about the aliens' origins was fascinating, and the initial plot idea was appealing. However, the script, clearly written by people who seem completely clueless, really ruined it.
