This movie attempts to highlight important issues but doesn't quite manage to convey its message in a conventional storytelling format. It centers on forced prostitution, particularly affecting vulnerable immigrant women. The narrative follows Antonia and Maria, undocumented Mexican immigrants, primarily through the perspective of James, a truck driver grieving the loss of his wife and now focused on raising his daughter who is in childcare. His sense of purpose shifts when he encounters a situation during one of his deliveries that challenges his values. Initially unaware of the full extent of the problem, he eventually decides to take action, though it feels like too little, too late—and yet, he persists. The film shares thematic similarities with movies such as 'Taken', 'Trade', and 'Eden,' all exploring difficult subjects rooted in reality. While the subject matter is commendable, the screenplay has shortcomings. There's a subtle religious undertone that felt somewhat unnecessary; while I appreciate moral guidance used to advocate for what’s right, it wasn’t essential here, though the characters reflect this aspect. The acting also didn't quite reach a high level, and emotional scenes often seemed flat. Because the story isn’t entirely based on one true account but draws from multiple real-life events, I felt that more could have been incorporated into the script. The beginning and ending were well done, however, the middle section dragged and lacked momentum in the plot. Now you have an idea of what this film is about, and I believe it’s worth seeing, primarily because of its message. It's interesting to note that the movie has been adapted into a book, which seems like a more suitable medium for this kind of narrative. _6/10_
