It’s striking how much Vivian and I seem to share, as she puts it: "You and I are such similar creatures, Vivian. We both screw people for money." Richard Gere is reliably good at portraying wealthy, arrogant characters, but I have to say, Julia Roberts felt like an odd choice for this part. She delivers a decent performance, yet the character just doesn't seem right for her. Still, you can’t expect every casting decision to be perfect.
