It’s an okay film, though unlikely to revisit, and I can’t offer a strong endorsement. The movie seems to capture the essence of Murphy's Law and the anxiety surrounding post-college employment, incorporating a familiar "Guy Next Door" character type. The outcome is apparent from very early on. While Michael Keaton and Jane Lynch are typically enjoyable performers, their roles here are quite limited; they deliver satisfactory performances within those constraints, but their potential feels restricted. Alexis Bledel, known for “Gilmore Girls,” essentially holds the film together, and she performs admirably—she’s certainly capable of leading a movie, I just wish her talents were showcased in something more substantial. Much of the storytelling feels so commonplace that it almost seems like the script includes lines like, "they'll understand." It took me roughly twenty minutes to register that this was set on a college campus rather than in high school, and its trajectory is quite foreseeable. It’s not poorly made, but there’s nothing particularly memorable about it, and I suspect I might question whether or not I even watched it a year from now.
