It's been interesting lately to discover some New Zealand films I wasn't previously aware of, and many have turned out to be quite enjoyable. This reimagining of Pork Pie, based on an earlier iteration, is one such film. I found it very entertaining, even though I could predict the resolution of a significant romantic storyline. It’s something that frequently occurs in this genre and isn't particularly difficult to accept. The engaging road trip elements, the car chases—certainly unrealistic, as they often are—along with smaller narrative surprises and the overall comedic tone, successfully pull you away from everyday concerns and make for a genuinely good time.
