It’s a film that deserves more recognition. Honestly, it's pretty chaotic. Three songs just don't land at all. The pacing is deliberate, as was common in movies made during the 1980s. And the storyline isn’t very substantial. However, it’s wonderful to experience. This film has a cartoon-like quality! The actors are exceptionally well-chosen; Williams performed his own action sequences in his first role, Duval delivers a wonderfully irritating performance, and they found an unbelievably adorable baby for the part of Sweat Pea. The production design is remarkable—it required seven months to construct the sets. Many of the jokes stick with you, both what’s said and the visual gags (and there's so much going on that you only notice them when watching again). And most of the songs are enjoyable, aside from those three failures. Also, it features the best use of an octopus outside of Lord of the Rings. This proved to be a welcome distraction after seeing Hamilton this weekend. Give it a try—it's delightfully cheesy and chaotic entertainment.
