Poor Things stands out not just as the strongest entry at this festival, but also as the leading film of the entire year up to this point, and it’s quickly become one of Yorgos Lanthimos' finest works. It's a remarkably clever and very funny narrative that has a lot to say, centering on an absorbing experience of self-realization with complex ideas woven throughout. The acting is superb from everyone involved, though Emma Stone delivers something truly special—a highly communicative presence who seems destined for numerous accolades. The film’s artistry in every aspect of its creation only enhances what's already a nearly flawless piece of work.
