This film surpasses the initial one considerably. There are numerous enjoyable scenes throughout. The familiar cast reappears, with the exception of Harris and Callahan. Lt. Mauser (Art Metrano) emerges as the latest unpleasant antagonist, accompanied by his unintelligent partner, Proctor. Memorable parts involve the Kirkland family's amusing displays of fondness, a particularly grimy black sock, a group of dim-witted street criminals under the direction of the foolish Zed (Bob Goldthwait), and a very funny sequence set in a sushi restaurant. It represents the final genuinely humorous installment from the Academy series.
