**What a disaster.** I paused repeatedly during the film, questioning how I would try to fix this mess if I had been involved in writing it. The scenes featuring Mikkelsen and Hudgens are powerful, emotionally resonant, well-crafted, and logically consistent. Mikkelsen is particularly effective as an action hero, and those sequences include genuinely impressive, even memorable, action set pieces. However, these elements don't connect with the violent clown storyline. While that portion has occasional flashes of ingenuity, it’s mostly absurd – essentially, the majority of the film. I can’t help but wonder about the script’s journey: did a promising initial story get altered by someone who didn’t understand what was needed? They piled in gratuitous violence, sex scenes, torture, more torture, and ridiculous villains—a lot of unnecessary additions that seem designed only to raise the rating without adding anything worthwhile. I repeatedly asked myself "why." There are several decent moments that feel familiar, but also a great deal of material that feels completely random. Someone approved this project, produced it, filmed it, and left it in the final version—and I’m not sure why. It had the potential to be an original, violent, and engaging film. Instead, it was just ruined. I won't revisit it, but I did manage to see it through to the end.
