This film presents itself in an odd fashion. Segments of it feel like a decent, dark and gritty thriller, while other parts seem to aspire to be something like a Tarantino film, and still others come across as comedic. I’d generally classify it as a B-movie, though a rather enjoyable one. Despite its strangeness, I have to admit that I liked it. I essentially chose to watch this movie on impulse. It appeared on my Netflix home screen, and the description appealed to me—the kind of story I tend to enjoy. Seeing Mads Mikkelsen in the lead role sealed the deal; I’m a fan of his performances. The film begins in a manner fairly typical for its genre. We see assassinations, introductions to the hero, the antagonists, and even more formidable adversaries, along with all the usual elements. It's evident early on that there will be bloodshed. However, the extent of the violence later in the movie was somewhat unexpected. I appreciated Mads Mikkelsen’s portrayal of Duncan, a rather gloomy assassin beginning his retirement. But honestly, I’m not surprised; it seems like an ideal role for him. The performances of the other actors were largely unremarkable, with perhaps the exception of Matt Lucas as Blut. It's hard to say whether his character required acting ability or simply a degree of eccentricity—or maybe some kind of substance. The description suggests he’s considered a liability. That’s not quite accurate; it’s more that his eccentric boss is trying to undermine him. This is where the film veers into comedy territory. It's clear from the initial scenes that this person is unstable. Then, he unleashes his assassins, and at that point, the movie descends into a chaotic mix of blood, violence, and humor. I’m unsure whether it would have been an improvement if the violence had been less comical. The comedy makes the film unusual and distinctive. Without it, there's a risk it could become just another forgettable assassin thriller. Still, despite its comedic elements, it is executed fairly well. Ultimately, as with most films, there’s a dramatic and violent fight near the end, which I enjoyed. There was also a plot twist at the conclusion that I didn’t anticipate. It proved to be an entertaining movie.
