Disney has delivered something worthwhile here. *Pocahontas*, released in 1995, proves to be an entertaining movie. The animation quality is appealing, and the voice actors all perform adequately. The story brings up some interesting points about British colonization. It’s not flawless or particularly detailed, but I appreciate the themes it explores. Irene Bedard performs well as the central character, while Mel Gibson, who seems to always be relevant, provides good support. It's also neat to recognize a young Christian Bale in the role of Thomas. Billy Connolly is present too, although his part is quite small. The animation and music are really what stand out. The songs aren’t especially memorable, but they stick with you; the musical score is consistently strong, particularly toward the conclusion. Most of the comedic moments, largely from the animal characters, are enjoyable as well. Ultimately, this is a film that's worth seeing.
