A young woman named “Bella” (Sofia Kappel), hailing from Sweden, travels to Los Angeles with the goal of establishing a career in the adult film industry. While not lacking in looks or some prior experience, she finds it difficult to gain traction within this world, which is centered in global media’s hub for sex. Her appearance doesn't stand out significantly, and despite receiving guidance from “Mike” (Jason Toler) and “Bear” (Chris Cock), she encounters animosity and rivalry among her peers. It appears that standard content won’t suffice, prompting her to consider more extreme forms of "entertainment"—a path that proves far from easy for those watching on screen. The question arises: is she truly prepared? There was potential here for a compelling, behind-the-scenes portrayal of the American adult film industry; however, I soon found myself losing interest. It shifts between what seems like an honest examination of “Bella’s” willingness to pursue her artistic vision and a familiar depiction of a disreputable business controlled by older men who are exploiting sex. While it's likely that both aspects exist within this competitive and harsh industry—regardless of orientation—the film didn’t manage to convey this effectively. Instead, we’re presented with one woman’s heightened perspective, which felt manufactured to lead to a foreseeable ending that became apparent early on. At times, the movie feels like a fake documentary filled with grievances. Though Kappel doesn't hold back in her performance, I didn't gain any real insight into what motivated her drive to push herself both physically and mentally. In some respects, it portrays adult film as something she’s simply not well-suited for—and honestly, who would be? It felt repetitive and ultimately unsatisfactory.
