The movie Plane delivers as an action thriller with a dependable central performance and satisfying fight scenes—that's all there is to it. It's an inexpensive action/survival film that hits every expected mark, delivering intense gun battles and visceral hand-to-hand fighting. The filmmakers didn’t put much effort into finding a distinctive title, and similarly, character development takes a backseat. Instead, the story focuses on Gerard Butler as he tries to guarantee the safety of a small number of passengers. Regrettably, the island where their plane goes down is inhabited by pirates or terrorists, so Butler spends his time shooting, punching, and using other methods to resolve the situation. Plane isn’t destined for awards recognition, but it's a worthwhile action movie I would happily watch again and suggest renting—though paying full price to own it might be too much. It was good that it had a theatrical release so audiences could know it’s a bit more substantial in budget and quality than most action movies released directly on streaming platforms.
