It was enjoyable because it brought back memories of my childhood. There have been numerous movies based on video games. 'Tron' from the 80s was among the first I recall seeing, and many others followed. However, ‘Wreck-it Ralph’ felt like a turning point in modern animation and CGI, which then inspired something like 'The Lego Movie.' While Lego and 'Toy Story' focus on toys rather than video games, they are quite similar in theme, and I am glad Hollywood created this film for people like me who grew up playing those games. The story was straightforward but the visuals were impressive; sometimes simplicity is preferable to overly complex technology. Those of us who played these games when we were younger—perhaps now older adults—might struggle to grasp it due to a gap in terminology and technology if it mirrored today's high-tech, high-resolution video games. But the current generation might not understand the importance of those who formed the foundation for any movie’s success, which is likely why this film received so much criticism. My childhood and teenage years were during the late 90s and early 2000s, a time when 8-bit games were on the verge of a revolution. I particularly enjoyed racing and brick games, especially 'Duck Hunt,' because it gave me a gun instead of a joystick. This movie really evoked those fond memories. A decade ago, I used those distinctive sounds and music as message alerts on my old mobile phones. I’m aware that Sandler has recently experienced a downturn in his acting career, but he seemed to recover somewhat with 'The Cobbler' and the well-received ensemble cast of ‘Men, Women & Children.' It isn’t a dramatic return to the comedies he is known for, but maintaining an average or above-average level is better than continued decline. To me, this film was good—above average, certainly not a masterpiece. The cameo appearances were surprising, though not particularly impactful, with the exception of Ashley Benson, who looked great in her brief appearance. This movie isn’t for everyone; younger viewers and older audiences may not appreciate it. If you were born in the 70s or 80s, you'll likely have an idea of what to expect. Even if it doesn’t fully meet your expectations, it will still provide satisfaction by bringing back those lost childhood memories. 7/10
