The movie gets better later on, but generally *Pitch Perfect 2* didn’t live up to expectations. It wasn't terrible, but even shortly after seeing it, I’m having trouble recalling any enjoyable parts. What stood out about the first film was the performers and the music; unfortunately, those elements aren’t as strong here. Anna Kendrick, as Beca, doesn’t have much to do, or at least not anything particularly memorable. Skylar Astin's Jesse has a smaller role, which I didn’t necessarily mind. Adam Devine (Bumper) and Rebel Wilson (Fat Amy) aren’t quite as funny, even though the plot involving those characters was what held my interest most. Hailee Steinfeld is an acceptable addition to the group. This isn't a sequel that resonated with me. I am hoping the next one will be better than this.
