It’s an enjoyable film that I intend to revisit, and I feel comfortable suggesting it to others. When put up against the 1995 release, this adaptation noticeably expands on the amount of nudity and gore—or at least blood. Given its classification as a comedy-horror, the choice of a waterpark as the backdrop for the creature’s rampage is surprisingly effective. I assumed that once the violence began, the humor would subside, but it persists throughout; these aren't necessarily refined jokes, which aligns with the film’s overall tone. I was honestly pleased (and thankful) to see Danielle Panabaker in this role, as she plays a fairly conventional character and carries much of the movie’s emotional weight. It’s not what I typically expect from her, but she delivers a strong performance; she's clearly a talented actress. David Koechner drives the comedic elements—and he handles them well—supported by the rest of the ensemble cast. David Hasselhoff, Christopher Lloyd, and Ving Rhames also have brief appearances. The movie is fairly simple in concept: it involves water, fish, people, and various combinations thereof, all contributing to a blend of humor and horror.
