This isn’t an awful movie, though there was a version made in the nineties that tells the same story and has superior performances and visuals, so it might be best to just watch that one instead. I realize that if I had been watching when that remake came out, I would likely be among those criticizing it with something like "What’s the point? It's simply a rehash of the original," but because I’ve seen both now, I can set aside my own inconsistency and suggest you just watch the remake. _Final rating:★★ - Had some things that appeal to me, but a poor finished product._
