This adaptation of "Pinocchio" has a more meaningful conclusion than the earlier film, yet doesn’t quite recapture the charm and enchantment that made the classic so beloved. Tom Hanks and many of the voice actors do a commendable job of evoking the feel of the 1940s movie, but the characters don't receive much expansion or creative updates. The combination of animated sequences, computer-generated imagery, live actors, and sets feels jarringly uneven, which creates an odd feeling that persists during the entire film. While the performers’ musical talents and some catchy songs contribute to its entertainment value, it ultimately proves to be a rather underwhelming reimagining. Rating: C
