The 2019 version of _Pet Sematary_ brings some new elements to the story, and while they aren't necessarily better than what came before, it thankfully avoids being a direct copy of the original, which seemed possible from the previews. Some of those changes didn’t sit well with me; there’s one significant plot point I won’t mention, but the most noticeable alteration—and something I was already aware of because of the advertising—is that John Lithgow isn't quite right for the role of Jud Crandall. I would have preferred to see the original actor return, or someone similar. On a completely separate note, when I first learned about _Pet Sematary_ – I discovered it initially through The Ramones’ song – my dad insisted that the title was intentionally spelled with an “a,” rather than an "e," because that's how Americans wrote it. He turned out to be wrong about pretty much everything. _Final rating:★★½ - There were many things I liked, but ultimately it didn’t fully come together._
