Edgar Kennedy truly makes an impression as "Uncle Edgar," complete with a noticeable bandage on his foot. The premise involves Stan and Ollie, along with their wives, Kay Deslys and Isabelle Keith, embarking on what’s intended to be a pleasant day trip. Predictably, this turns into a slapstick disaster from the very beginning; they struggle even to get everyone in the car before things start going wrong, and it seems like they're not getting anywhere at all! Even watching them fumble around in the kitchen beforehand, I felt that this was one of their more formulaic adventures, and the fact that they’re speaking doesn’t really improve matters. The plot follows a very familiar path, and there’s only so much sandwich-hurling and tire-changing humor I can tolerate before it feels like everything is stuck in neutral, just like their car. These comedians were exceptionally skilled with comedic timing, and their coordination remains entertaining, but some variation in the storyline could have been beneficial—as well as a more substantial role for Kennedy.
