The film centers on “Cutter” (Wesley Snipes), who is dealing with his wife's passing while aboard a plane that has been taken over by "Rane" (Bruce Payne) and his crew—which includes one of the flight attendants. Unbeknownst to "Rane," as he makes unreasonable requests of "Atlantic International," “Cutter” happens to be the airline’s head of security, and certainly knows how to use his skills at a high altitude. The story then unfolds with some physical sequences both in the air and on land, following a familiar plot throughout. Snipes performs adequately in an action role, but he's better off with limited dialogue because the writing is more detrimental than Payne’s appearance allows. There are several attempts to wrap things up—on the tarmac, inside the plane, and even at an amusement park—but there isn't a sense of danger as the story progresses at a fairly rapid pace. It occupies some time, but it’s essentially just a showcase for a performer who lacks the appeal of Eddie Murphy to make this work, and ultimately feels like a formulaic exercise.
