This feels like a familiar story—it's the 15th film in the 16-movie run Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis had together. The movie is based on Rhythm On The Range from 1936, which also had Norman Taurog behind the camera. The storyline involves the two comedians as the offspring of former partners who reunite unexpectedly after a quarter century, leading them into numerous misadventures out west; at one point, Jerry even finds himself holding down the job of sheriff. It seemed like only a matter of time before Martin and Lewis would find themselves playing cowboys in a Western setting—it’s practically a tradition for comedy teams. The early 1950s were just the right period for this kind of movie to be made, as that was when Western comedies were really popular. Among their movies together, Pardners is probably somewhere near the center; it's a dependable combination of music and silly antics, with attractive women portrayed by Jackie Loughery and Lori Nelson.
