A very enjoyable film; I'd happily watch it again and suggest others do so as well. It’s unexpectedly bleak and doesn’t get enough attention. The animated character designs are quite strange, but that actually works pretty well for depicting the undead. It also blurs the line between what might be considered a movie for children versus adults because of its subject matter. This is likely best suited to an older group of younger viewers. Beyond having a solid premise, impressive visuals, and a good narrative, the characters are memorable when they appear. I could have lived without some of them, but most of the key figures fulfill their purpose effectively. There's a welcome surprise that demonstrates clever storytelling, playing with familiar elements from movies like "I see dead people." It’s quite a nice change of pace while still acknowledging that burning people as witches was a terrible historical event. The narrative is heartfelt and appealing, but it does require viewers to be receptive to new ideas—which seems to be part of what the story is trying to convey.
