It's frustrating when people start making comments about me! Animated movies have really come a long way recently. It used to be that Disney was practically the only place you could find vibrant, fun animated stories. Nowadays, we’re fortunate to have numerous filmmakers creating their own animated projects based on individual ideas. A good thing about this expansion has been the emergence of animated horror comedies, and ParaNorman stands among the very best examples in recent years. Norman Babcock is viewed as an oddity where he lives because he says he can see ghosts. The people living in this New England town don’t realize it yet, but they'll soon need Norman to lift a centuries-old witch's curse or face disaster! The story progresses with a charming and unusual feel, showing that the creators put a lot of care and attention into both genres it combines. Like many great animated films do, ParaNorman works well for families. The scary moments are appropriate for children, the animation is excellent, the humor is clever, and the dark atmosphere surrounding the story is just right. It all leads to a genuinely exciting ending where the visual elements blend seamlessly with the film’s emotional depth. It's a wonderful, thoughtful, and spooky movie. 8/10
