The movie isn’t without its flaws, though generally speaking, it's decent enough. “Paranormal Activity” utilizes a found footage style and features performances that feel genuine, along with some moments intended to startle the viewer. The film smartly plays on the idea that fear often comes from what you don’t see rather than what is shown, and it manages to pull that off well. Still, there isn't much else to recommend; it fails to truly frighten, the plot is remarkably unremarkable, and the ending felt disappointing. If you are looking for something to pass the time, seeing this probably won’t be a bad choice, but I wouldn’t make a special effort to watch it.
