I wasn’t expecting much, but *Paranormal Activity 3* manages to bring back all the familiar scares—and then some. It turned out to be better than the second film, and I had a more enjoyable time with it than I did with the first. The movie creates an atmosphere reminiscent of the original, and the bigger group of characters gives solid performances. While the repeated approach does lessen the impact of the frightening moments, there are enough new elements to make up for it. The story isn’t where the series truly shines, but this chapter offers a bit more background on the demon and how it got involved with the family. A lot of the links between these movies feel contrived, creating an overall feeling that things don't quite add up. Still, if you were into the first two *Paranormal Activity* films, you might find this one to your liking; otherwise, it’s probably best to skip it since it doesn’t do a whole lot to change what’s been done before.
