It’s a genuinely enjoyable film that I would happily watch again and suggest to others. The movie feels like a spiritual successor to "The Island," and for the most part, reaches a similar level of quality. There are elements that detract from its strengths, but discussing them would spoil things for anyone considering watching it. What stands out most strangely is the combination of actors involved. Milla Jovovich and Emma Roberts have demonstrated their ability to lead a film with relative ease, yet the cast also includes Danielle Macdonald ("Birdbox") and Awkwafina ("Jumanji: The Next Level"), whose performances I didn’t find impressive, nor do I view them as particularly skilled performers. I'm not convinced that more experienced actors would have improved the movie; the real issues seem to lie within the writing itself. Considering its goal of depicting extreme wealth, it boasts an impressively high production value. At its core, there's a compelling mystery/survival narrative here, but I’m uncertain if it will hold up on repeated viewings.
