This was a genuinely pleasant family film based on the familiar Peter Pan narrative. I’m puzzled as to why it has such an average score on most rating platforms; in my view, that assessment isn't justified. The film functions as a backstory, detailing how Peter became Peter Pan. The storytelling seemed well-executed and managed to incorporate both excitement and comedic elements. While the characters were generally good, I felt Peter Pan himself was the least interesting. Captain Hook and Tiger Lily, along with Blackbeard, really captured my attention. Peter isn't poorly written; he just comes across as a bit uninspired. Compared to other adaptations of Peter Pan, this one has a darker tone and feels more grounded in reality. Blackbeard is a particularly unpleasant antagonist, and the protagonists face considerable peril—there are real consequences for their actions. People don’t simply recover from injuries; they can actually die. The special effects were decent enough. I especially enjoyed the pixie swarms toward the film's conclusion. Also, contrary to some reviewers' claims, Peter Pan does indeed fly in this movie. It seems those who say otherwise didn’t watch it all the way through. Please don’t review a film if you aren’t willing to finish it! There is something of a gap between the ending of this story and the start of the classic Peter Pan narrative. The circumstances that led to Peter and Hook becoming adversaries, and the details of Hook's relationship with the crocodile, for example, remain unexplained. I would definitely be interested in seeing a sequel that explored those events.
