The film successfully recounts the disturbing real events it portrays, yet considering the talent involved—both in front of and behind the camera—it ultimately falls short of its potential. Emily Blunt and Chris Evans both give noteworthy performances, however, director David Yates struggles to find a consistent tone. The handling of numerous deaths of people affected by these events feels inappropriately breezy, which might strike viewers, particularly those familiar with this particular narrative, as lacking in sensitivity or even careless. The film does explore the unfortunate results of prioritizing money above all else and how that impacts others, but the absence of fresh ideas combined with its lengthy duration contributes to a generally uneven viewing experience.
