It’s easy to get tired of seeing familiar plots reworked with new actors, and this movie doesn't entirely escape that issue. While I wouldn’t call the story groundbreaking, it feels like a revitalized smaller-scale production. It manages to be a pretty good comedy-drama, considerably better than many bigger releases currently out there, and I found it enjoyable. I wasn’t familiar with the actor in the lead role, but learned he's also a musician who performs in the film. Initially, I thought it might have been Aaron Paul or perhaps his brother—he did a solid job in the part. The supporting cast was good too. It tells a story that unfolds over a single day, focusing on the birthday of a married former musician dealing with difficulties in his life. The storyline appealed to me, although it felt somewhat straightforward. Regardless, the ending worked out nicely. I suspect it might be better than some people are claiming, though it probably won't live up to my praise. It’s certainly not a bad movie, and that’s something to keep in mind if you’re hesitant about watching it. I would recommend it to those who aren’t expecting much, but it isn’t essential viewing. _7/10_
