This film represents an incredibly drawn-out and wasteful narrative. There was far too much focus on developing characters and adding dramatic elements that didn't need to be there. I honestly couldn’t make it through, giving up around the midpoint and skipping ahead. I witnessed a scene where the president declared that Russia would never manage to get its hands on the atomic bomb—though it wasn’t clear what information he was relying upon for this assertion. The movie really highlighted how worried America was about communist influence infiltrating the nation... and demonstrated their anxiety regarding losing their position as “the leaders of the free world”—a title they've never truly justified or deserved... and underscored that lessons from past events haven't been absorbed, leading to continuous conflict. It’s a real shame because this story could have been told in a way that left a lasting impression and some kind of significance. It’s not surprising the world is headed toward destruction at the hands of those who hold most of the wealth; greed drives everything.
