This film brings to mind "The Adventures of Tartu" from 1943. The story involves the Nazis employing increasingly powerful missiles against South East England, and when scientists develop new, easily transportable V1 and V2 rockets, a group is put together to undertake risky sabotage deep within Germany. George Peppard, Jeremy Kemp, and Tom Courtenay form this team, and these characters, along with Anthony Quayle in his role as the Nazi opponent, function nicely to create a feeling of danger while they go about their mission. The narrative feels somewhat bogged down by an artificial subplot involving Sophia Loren, but generally it's a straightforward drama that seems to include nearly every British actor imaginable – John Mills, Trevor Howard, Richard Johnson, Richard Todd, and others. Naturally, it takes some liberties with reality; Peppard’s Dutch accent (apparently originating from Detroit) isn't entirely convincing at times—but ultimately it remains an absorbing wartime adventure film featuring a fairly thrilling finale.
