"Open Windows," a 2010 crime thriller centered on computer hacking, presents an innovative and interesting premise that unfortunately becomes tangled and doesn’t quite deliver. Elijah Wood portrays a fan of an actress—Sasha Grey—who finds himself embroiled in a dangerous game involving a malevolent hacker after being invited to secretly observe her through his laptop. Nacho Vigalondo both wrote and directed the film, and I must acknowledge the considerable talent required to develop such a story and bring it to life. However, the narrative is frustratingly intricate, featuring plot developments that feel arbitrary. Wood performs adequately in his role, and Grey’s presence certainly captivates with her striking appearance. The film's runtime is 1 hour and 40 minutes, and filming took place in Madrid, Spain, as well as Spiderwood Studios in Austin, Texas. GRADE: C
