Many film theories circulate online, but one stands out as particularly absurd: the idea that _the Chief killed the unresponsive McMurphy because he believed McMurphy was disregarding him._ Proponents of this notion suggest the Chief failed to recognize the injuries on McMurphy's head and mistakenly assumed he was being ignored, leading to a violent outburst. It’s an unbelievable explanation. The Chief’s actions were motivated by _kindness_. He was freeing McMurphy—a man who had once been full of life but now existed as little more than a shell, a consequence of the oppressive control exerted by _Nurse Wretched._ This enduring film remains powerful and tells a captivating story about developing connections within a mental institution. Nicholson delivers an outstanding performance, complemented by strong supporting work from Christopher Lloyd, Brad Dourif, and Danny DeVito.
